Long before he became “T.G. Millner”, he was good enough to play first-grade footy (for Easts), lived and worked for a time in Newcastle and then when the Great War broke out like many other boys his age he volunteered to fight
Twice wounded at Gallipoli, he served also in France where he was awarded the Military Cross. He lost a brother to the war.
TG was one of the lucky ones to come home, but many didn’t
