Woods v Stockman Rugby this Saturday!

 

For those not quite ready to settle into the long off-season, there’s one more occasion to mark on your calendar. This Saturday 10 October, Eastwood Rugby is proud to welcome Australian Stockman Rugby to TG Millner for an exhibition match. Kick-off is at 11.00 am and entry is free.

Founded in Longreach, Queensland, in 2013, Australian Stockman Rugby is an Australian country representative rugby program that provides players from regional and rural communities with unique opportunities to represent Stockman Rugby and tour internationally, including destinations such as Fiji and Japan.

The Stockman Rugby story extends beyond the rugby field. The program also uses rugby as a platform to promote men’s mental health awareness, and the importance of connection and supporting one another.

This fixture is another great opportunity to continue building the strong relationship between Eastwood and the Stockmen. Current Eastwood First Grade player Derek Letcher and Assistant Coach Sam Rolfe were part of the Stockmen’s recent tour to Fiji, further strengthening the connection between country and city rugby.

Eastwood will field a strong side, featuring a number of our 2026 First Grade players, alongside players from Second Grade and Colts, who will get an opportunity to test themselves.

In October, the Stockmen embark on their tour to Japan, and Saturday’s match against Eastwood serves as the first game in that broader tour.

It promises to be a great game of rugby at TG, with food and beverages available on site during and after the match.
