Eastwood boy Matt Williams off a long run

Matt's a well known international rugby commentator based in the UK. He's had a bit to say about the World Cup and how the Wallabies are going. You can hear a bit of it here:



Some may not know of Matt's background. Born and bred Eastwood boy, Matt played colts with the Woodies, probably because it was over his back fence!


He went to school at St Pats Strathfield so went to Wests in grade as his mates from school also played there.


Matt turned to coaching and returned to Eastwood early in his coaching career around 1992. He did simple things to reunite the club and convinced players who had left to return. The club started to build again from Matt’s work, immediately making the semi-finals in both 1993 and 1994. Chairman Rob Cusack credits Matt with laying the foundations in that period for the Club's long run of success in the decades since


Subsequently in a glittering career Matt went on to coach the Waratahs, Leinster, Scotland and Ulster,
