Peter Robinson awarded Life Membership

We are here today to honour Peter Robinson with Life Membership of Eastwood District Rugby Union Club

Peter is a product of Epping Boys High School, just down the road here from TG Millner Field

He was also captain of the first ever Australian Schoolboys Team, and part of the first ever schoolboys tour to South Africa in 1969. Notably, there were 5 players from the one school on that tour, Peter’s school, Epping Boys High.

Peter of course then played for Eastwood where he also captained the 1st Grade side.

He represented Sydney, and as many will know, Sydney developed a formidable reputation against overseas international touring teams.

However, after his rugby playing days, it is off the field that Peter has continued to make a huge contribution to Eastwood Rugby for more than 30 years in a number of key governance roles, including:

• Vice President of EDRUFC under President Bill Papworth

• Chair of the Board of Vimiera Recreation Grounds Limited for much of that time. This is the company that owned and managed the TG Millner Field and complex

Peter continues this involvement and is currently a Trustee of the Eastwood Rugby Foundation and a key decision maker in the relocation arrangements for the Club’s planned move to North West Sydney.

We are all deeply indebted to you Peter for your enormous contribution to the Club and we are very pleased to bestow this honour of Life Membership of Eastwood Rugby Club here in front of the Eastwood faithful at TG Millner.
