We've lost one of the pillars of the Club; Bill has passed away in his home town of Taree after a long illness
Bill's career took him all over the state; postings in Newcastle, Canberra and of course in Sydney where he settled in North Epping, got involved with the local footy club and eventually rose to become the President of the Woods
In one of those strange twists of fate, Bill was the President of the Woods when son Brett, our current President, returned from a stint in league and sought re-instatement- a battle that took some 2 years to resolve when finally in the middle 90s Bill was again able to watch his son run around at TG.
Its often been noted that the period of the 90s was when the Club began its resurgence and Bill was right in the thick of that. Respected all over Sydney Rugby he was someone who gave so much to the Club that in recognition he was named as our 16th Life Member
Our thoughts are with Brett, his Mum and all the Papworth family. Funeral details to follow
