Eastwood Legends Head Up NSW Rugby

Two of Eastwood’s greats have taken over as President and Vice President of NSW rugby – see Web Site for announcement. The new President is Mick Mathers a very respected Lock who played over 100 games for Eastwood during the 1970s and 1980s. He also played in two tests for the Wallaby’s and captained Australia in two non-test tour matches. He was a school boy star playing in the 1973/4 Australian school boys who toured the British Isles. He learnt his trade at Shore before joining Eastwood. He retired from representative football to concentrate on Eastwood.
The vice president position has been taken up by one of Eastwood’s best Full Backs, Marty Roebuck. Marty played 12 seasons for Eastwood and appeared in 10 premiership finals. Marty was born in Lithgow and went to school at St. Stanislaus College in Bathurst before coming down to the big smoke to play for Eastwood. He played 23 tests made his debut for the Wallabies in 1991 and was the Full Back in the world cup winning side later that year. Upon retiring from Eastwood he played for the Newcastle Wildfires before returning to Bathurst where he set up his Physiotherapist Practice.
