Perth tour 2012 – hear the inside story from our man on the ground!

With a successful 2011 behind us, Eastwood have been invited by the Western Force to bring a development squad to Perth for a week for a pre-season hit out. During our time in Perth we will play 2 games against- Perth Gold (Perth club rugby rep team) and the Force A team.

A motley crew of 21 players have jumped at the opportunity to head west, train, practice, play and most importantly just…..”tour”.

After claiming to be the youngest on tour on thursday night, Jed Gillespie took to the soap box at the airport, to announce that he in fact was not the youngest and that title along with Woody the mascot would belong to his front row partner and Woods debutant Hugh Roach! Hugh seemed overjoyed at having to cart the Woody mascot around with him at all times.

The 5 hour flight went by in a flash, partly due to the excitement Snowy had for his first plane ride, and with our hydration levels at an all time high we were ready to hit the ground running!

A quick beach swim across from our accom at Scarborough refreshed everyone before our afternoon team run. With some guys joining the squad for the 1st time there was a fair bit of work to get through in the 35 degree late afternoon heat!

The new guys seemed to pick the patterns and calls up quickly and the short-sharp session went well. After a very big day and some hot/cold showers all the boys hit the hay nice and early in anticipation of their 1st game of the year!
