Retirement of Director Graeme Harrison

Graeme, having just racked up 22 years on the Board, has advised the Chairman he intends to retire from this role and thus bring to an end one of the longest and most successful stints on the Club’s Board in our history.

First joining the Board in 2004, Graeme has been part of the era that saw the Club win multiple Shute Shields and become perennial title contenders

His considered contributions around the Board table have always been highly valued. For example, Graeme was the one who made the suggestion that we appoint John Manenti as our 1st grade coach - seems a lay down misere now but at the time it was a bit of a gamble - John had never been a head club coach, was a forward, wasn't from our Club, but Graeme had seen something a bit special on the field and urged the Board to back his judgement. The Board did and the rest is history.

Of course that era also saw some momentous decisions of the Board, setting the Club up for the future. There was the sale of TG Millner to North Ryde RSL and then the decision to relocate to the Hills. These decisions were, as can be imagined, part of extensive, considered dialogue and debate. Graeme was always part of these discussions and at all times looked to ensure the Club not only survived but thrived. Players were always front of his mind when making decisions and there can not have been a more dedicated and supportive person advocating for the players in our Club

Graeme’s history with the Club of course goes back a lot longer than 2004; here he is as a young 16 year old playing in the local juniors comp

and then a few years later here he is in the lower grades

But of course its as a coach that he has made his reputation. 2nd grade’s death defying win last season, was the proof of his capabilities that we have all long known he has.

He might now be missing from the Board meetings every month, but thankfully he’s not going to be lost to the Club.. now he’s cracked the secret of winning, he’s saddling up for season 2026 again as the 2nd Grade coach.

Chairman Rob Cusack in thanking Graeme for his massive contribution over more than 2 decades paid tribute to Graeme’s supportive and wise counsel.

A grateful Club says, thank you.

The vacancy caused by Graeme’s retirement will be filled by Martin Halmarick who has been working closely with the Board over the past 6 months.
